EnCase App Central Surpasses 10,000 Download Milestone

PASADENA, Calif., Sep 09, 2013 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Guidance Software, Inc. GUID -0.93%  , the World Leader in Digital Investigations(TM), announced today that EnCase(R) App Central downloads have now exceeded 10,000 since the online store opened for business this spring. The apps on EnCase App Central expand upon the core functionality and efficiency of the EnCase(R) products.

“EnCase App Central is becoming what we envisioned: a single, trusted source for our valued developers and investigations professionals to share and discover the latest apps that complement our EnCase solutions,” said Victor Limongelli, president and CEO of Guidance Software. “The EnCase App Central community is attracting the industry’s best developers and third-party partners, all of whom are focused on providing real solutions to the challenges faced by digital investigators.”

Most apps on EnCase App Central are free, but there are also paid apps leveraging the EnCase open architecture and EnScript(R) programming language. Each app is vetted and tested by a technical team at Guidance Software before it is made available at EnCase App Central. More than 50,000 investigators trained and licensed in the use of EnCase solutions can now leverage these apps to automate and add to the functionality of their EnCase software for more effective and streamlined digital investigations.

Halfway into its first year, EnCase App Central now showcases more than 70 apps built by industry leaders including Belkasoft(R), Image Analyzer(TM), and Office Recovery, as well as Guidance Software developers. Partners such as Magnet Forensics(R) and WetStone are committed to increasing efficiencies through integration of leading digital-investigations solutions.

“What we see in the digital forensics industry today is that investigators are constantly challenged to close cases faster. These integrations between best-of-breed tools and technologies like Internet Evidence Finder(TM) (IEF) help seamlessly bring evidence into EnCase(R) Forensic, where it can be searched, analyzed, and reported on within a single workspace,” said Adam Belsher, CEO of Magnet Forensics, maker of IEF.
